Pacific Cookie Company Retail Bakery BerkeleyIn the late 1970's Larry and Shelly Pearson were living in the Monterey Bay area with their two daughters, Stacy and Cara. Looking for a sustainable way to support their young family, they came across a small cookie store in downtown Carmel and were immediately interested in the concept. Larry came from a strong business background, developed during his seven years of working under three very successful entrepreneurs, and becoming an entrepreneur himself was very appealing to him. Shelly's artistic creativity paired with Larry's entrepreneurial spirit gave the Pearson's an opportunity to create something special. In 1980, after months of perfecting several gourmet cookie recipes, the Pacific Cookie Company retail bakery opened on the Pacific Garden Mall in Santa Cruz, California. 34 years later the Pacific Cookie Company retail store is a cornerstone of Downtown Santa Cruz. On a visit to the area it is hard to walk by without being drawn in by the fresh baked cookie aroma.

Retail bakery store pricing, cookies $1.05 each, ½ dozen cookies $5.75, bakers dozen $11.50, Mom’s Special is 2 cookies and a milk $2.80, $0.75 for each dipped cookie, Gluten free cookies by Red House Bakery $1.75Made from the finest ingredients including Guittard chocolate, sweet creamery butter, pasteurized whole eggs, unbleached flour, and pure vanilla, our cookie dough is made in small batches each day and brought to our retail stores. The dough is scooped fresh and baked continuously throughout the day to ensure you receive a fresh cookie not far from the oven in which it was baked. Pacific Cookie Company has searched for years for gluten-free cookies that deliver true gourmet taste and texture. That search ended right here in our own backyard when we found Anna Hayes and Red House Bakery. Anna produces her dough in a gluten-free facility in Santa Cruz which is then brought to Pacific Cookie Company for baking and selling to you. Each cookie is handmade with all-natural ingredients including whole gran organic brown rice flour, sorghum flour, organic creamery butter, Guittard chocolate and organic coconut palm sugar.

We know how strict gluten-free diets can be so we have taken precautions to prevent cross-contamination with our wheat based cookies.

And now, thanks to the Pacific Cookie Company and our new partner, Red House Bakery, gluten-intolerant locals and tourists alike can now enjoy the sweet pleasure of just-baked cookies, warm and aromatic from the oven. So come in and taste the newest addition to our family and see our new look.
